Sarah Al Nour and Alec Marken of "Global Groove" bring you their very first "GG" workshop, combining their years of dance performance and instruction to bring you a truly special and unique learning opportunity!

"How to dance to Anything!" will introduce new dancers to universal movement concepts (like energy, turning, isolations, footwork, core strength, rhythm, etc.) and will develop experienced dancers' interpretive ability, expression and vocabulary. This workshop is for Belly dancers AND non- Belly dancers.

ONLY $35 for 3 hours of instruction with two of Southern California's most enthusiastic, versatile and dedicated teachers!

* In the first portion of the class, Sarah al Nour will introduce and break down basic Belly dance techniques and movement, as well as some fun layering techniques! Alec and Sarah will co-demonstrate and lead movement experiences to engage your attention and help you access your physical energy and expression through body isolations and fluid transitions. We'll be bringing the music into specific parts of our bodies, giving
ourselves the right and freedom to move the way the music speaks to us individually, while working with a live drummer! We will be responding with our bodies to Alec's djembe; he will use various tempos, and international rhythms; allowing us to physically interpret the rhythm of the music and respond to different dynamics.
Every willing dancer will have the opportunity to spend some time dancing solo while Alec accompanies you with his djembe-.an experience in which drummer and dancer are playing off/following each other IN THE MOMENT, truly a 2-way interpretive conversation that is wonderful for personal/social dance OR performance.
The immediacy of one drummer and one dancer improvising together can be magical!
There will also be plenty of time for all attendees to dance as a group to the live drumming. We're going to have fun!!!
